The Biozentrum Postdoc Society (BPS) aims to strengthen the Postdoctoral community at the Biozentrum by creating opportunities for networking, collaboration and professional development.<\/p>

To achieve this goal, we organise events to help postdocs create new meaningful connections as well as workshops aimed at improving soft skills and boost career growth<\/p>

Martina is a postdoc in Christoph Handschin's lab since November 2022, where she studies how motor neurons and nerve-muscle communication are modulated by exercise. She comes from Padova (Italy), where she completed her PhD and did her first postdoc studying the role of mTORC1 in neuromuscular junction maintenance and muscle contractility. In her free time, she likes to travel and go to rock concerts, drink Aperol spritz along the Rhein and have barbecues with friends. \n

Danny is a postdoc in the Marek Basler lab working on the bacterial type VI secretion system. Danny grew up and studied in the UK where he completed his PhD working on Pseudomonas virulence and the type III secretion system at the John Innes Centre, Norwich. Outside of the lab Danny enjoys hiking around Switzerland, playing board games, travelling to new places, and the occasional Rhine swim from time to time.

Luca has been a postdoc in Richard Neher's lab since November 2023, where he studies viral evolution within the context of the SARS-CoV-2 fitness landscape. Physicist by training, Luca obtained both his BSc and MSc degrees in Rome, the latter with a focus on theoretical statistical physics. He then transitioned towards computational biology during his PhD studies in Turin (Italy), where he developed inference methods for protein sequence data. Outside of research, he enjoys hiking, working out in the gym, playing the drums, and attending live music concerts.

Alexandra is a postdoc in Anissa Kempf\u2019s lab since October 2023, where she studies the neuronal mechanisms underlying sleep regulation. She is originally from Portugal (Lisbon), where she completed her PhD in Neuroscience studying the role of proprioception sensory neurons in the control of movement. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, dancing and reading.
