“Patenting in Life Science”

In June the Forum für Gene Research of the Academy of Science
organizes a course in “Patenting in Life Science”. The target of this
course is to give a basic knowledge to PhDs and Postdocs about
patenting in life science. Students will have the opportunity to go
into practice during these two days.

The course takes place on June 11. and 12.2012

The course is financed by the University of Basel for 15 students. As
we share these places with the medical faculty, we will have 7 slots
to give away, registration goes on first come, first serve basis.

Career Seminar: Medical Writing

This week we will have another career seminar.
The topic is “medical writing” and this will be presented by Dr. Susan
Flores, who heads the medical writing group in Actelion, and Franziska
Ruth-Schatzmann, who works at a company specialized in medical writing
(NPSM).

We hope to see many of you on Wednesday April 18 at 4PM in room 511.

Career Seminar: Crime and Paternity, Working in Forensic Genetics

On Thursday, March 29, The PhD club is organizing another career seminar.
Lukas Jegge from the Kanton Basel-Stadt will speak about his work in forensic genetics.
It will be at 4PM in Lecture Hall 1 of the Pharmazentrum.
As usual, there will be an apero afterwards.

They have invited Dr. Anne Vogt, who will talk about working at Roche as a Personalized Health Care Leader. She is specialized in the design and implementation of biomarkers and personalized health care strategy into clinical development.

It will take place on Wednesday, February, 1st at 4pm in room 102 of the Biozentrum.

Annual Postdoc Meeting 2012

Next Wednesday on the 11th of January we will have our Annual Postdoc Meeting.

In this meeting we will update you on the activities of the Postdoc
Club from last year and the activities that are planned for this year.
We will also inform you about the newly formed Basel Postdoc Network.

In addition you will be able to express your idea’s, complains and
suggestions for the general improvement of the organization of either
the Postdoc club or the Biozentrum in general. You can also bring up
the issues that you would like to be mentioned to the advisory board.

We encourage you to attend this meeting and hope to see many of you on
Jan 11 at 15:00 in room BZ102.
